South East Asian Eggs for Breakfast? Why not?

We are self confessed egg lovers and have said countless times that we could live just eating fried eggs alone for the rest of our lives. Although eggs contain cholesterol, we fear nothing because according to experts it's not that bad. See, we like living on the edge. We like danger. Exaggeration!

Seriously, little did we know that the love we have for eggs would be tested in our recent trip to Indochina. For 5 consecutive morning we were served eggs. Fried eggs, omelets, and scrambled eggs. Let the Eggventure begins!

First Breakfast: Good Morning Saigon!
For our first breakfast, we had fried eggs and bread. Well there are choices, of course.
you can choose from bread with butter, bread with fried eggs, bread with omelet, bread with scrambled eggs, fried eggs with stir fry noodles, and fried eggs with pork and stir fry noodles. The breakfast comes with unlimited brewed coffee and tea, 4 bigs slices of bananas and 4 slices of watermelons.

Second Breakfast: Good Morning Saigon (2)!
We we’re feeling a tad adventurous and tried a different dish. We had bread with scrambled eggs and fried egg with stir fry noodles. Like, I said, we live on the edge.

Third Breakfast: Good Morning Phnom Pehn!
More reason to love G eleven Hotel is their breakfastJ. Why? Well because the choices are better and there’s sausage.  Okay, okay, okay to be clear the breakfast offered here in Phnom Pehn and Vietnam are actually the same except for sausages and loaf bread.

Fourth Breakfast: Good Morning Siem Reap!
Since we are headed to the Majestic Angkor Wat our breakfast was actually to go. When we went down at 5:00 in the morning it was already prepared and packed. Like Vietnam and Phnom Pehn the variety were the same but no sausages and loaf bread.

Fifth Breakfast: Good Morning Siem Reap (2)!
We hardly touched our  eggs, I mean our food. We had enough of eggs.  We settled for a cup of coffee and a glass of juice.

We love Indo-China a lot lot lot but at this time our thoughts were drifting to fried rice, tapa and some Filipino eggs. Filipino eggs taste better (no pun intended hihihihi)

You’ve probably noticed that the breakfast we were served are practically all the same.  The bread and egg combo is probably the most overrated breakfast offering in most budget friendly hotels. Some often complain with the lack of choices, but this is the kind of breakfast most people would eat, especially if you are in a different soil.  It would have been better though if there is at least a dish in the menu that represents their country or what they normally eat for breakfast.

Well in Vietnam they usually have bread for breakfast being a French Colony for some time. The bread they serve is called “Banh Mi”. Similar to a baguette but airy, very airy, the crust is actually the bread itself already.  Luckily we were not served “Banh Mi” in Phnom Penh,Cambodia  instead we had loaf bread J However, being both once colonies of France , Cambodia has their own baguette called “num pang pate” and on our travel to the Majestic Angkor Wat that’s what we got serve for breakfast ( but this is not what they normally have for breakfast , for breakfast rice is actually the staple dish, may it be  steam or porridge and of course noodles.)

We don’t know if it were just us or eggs taste different in Vietnam and Cambodia. We could not really pin point what’s wrong with them eggs , so we decided to  list down reasons why the taste of the eggs differ.

a. Not eggs but duck eggs
b. Cooking Style
c. Organic Egg
d. White Egg/ Brown Egg
e.  Spices

So for anyone who gets to read this, tell us, share what do you know with them eggs?  Egginsformation please.
